Having seen how weblogs and podcasts had democratised media for the written and spoken word I was looking for something to come along and do likewise for video. Outside broadcast units (OBU) and satelitte connections had enabled the live coverage of events globally. When I saw Justin Kan with a videocam strapped to his baseball hat in 2007 I immediately paid attention.
Lifelogging had been around for a number of years. However livestreaming realtime video was taking things to the next level. I spent 2011 looking at livestreaming. Since then with the arrival of sub e100 contract free smartphones and the rollout of 4G networks we are on the verge of another wave of innovation.
